The legendary gate of Ekatontapyliani of Paros Island
The temple of Panaya of Ekatontapiliani today is as big as a monastery. It is surrounded by a walled fence which has a perimeter of 252 and a height of 8.5 meters. This enclosure between the western wall and the facade of the temple, forms a wide yard which measures about 42x34 meters. Read more..

THE CROSS-SHAPED BAPTISMAL FONT - The ancient baptistry of the Ekatontapyliani
The ancient Baptismal Font, circa 4th century, is found on the southern side of the main temple. It is the oldest and the best maintained Baptismal Font throughout the Orthodox East, which is why it contains the most important extension of the Ekatontapiliani.

As we enter the main temple (30 x 25m) from the Narthex we are astounded by its impression.

THE ALTAR & THE ICONOSTASSIS- Katapoliani of Paros
Inside the altar, which measures 10 x 12, meters, are the most precious monuments. The "Ciborium" and the "Synthronon" whose great importance is because of the extreme rarity of their existence in other old Christian temples.

The Chapel of St. Nicholas
This chapel which measures 19x15 meters is situated to the north of the altar of the main temple. It is the oldest temple not only of the whole complex of Ekatontapiliani but of the whole island, since the old sections were built in the beginning of the 4th century. Many archaeologists believe though that this small temple is where St. Helen prayed on her way to Palestine to find the Holy Cross. Read more..

PORTABLE ICONS - Panaya ( Madona ) 0f Ekatontapiliani
From the plethora of portable icons that are found in the main temple and the chapels, most of which are from the 17th or 18th century, the following are worth mentioning:“The Praying Madonna” circa 15th century. An icon of exceptional work or art. Unfortunately it is covered with unskilled silver leaves which are impossible to remove because the icon might be destroyed. It is contained in an old wooden iconostassis which has twelve small icons of the Apostles, circa 16th century. It is found on the left pillar of the main temple near the chapel of Osia Theoktisti.
